Privacy Notice
This notice explains what Timeliner processes, why it is needed, and the choices available to you.
Effective and last updated: 2 October 20261. Who is responsible for your data
Timeliner is a personal-timeline software service operated from Switzerland. In this notice, “Timeliner”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of the Timeliner service.
For privacy questions, access requests or deletion requests, contact support@timelinerapp.com.
2. Information we process
- Account information: email address, authentication records and account identifiers.
- Timeline content: cards, titles, descriptions, dates, arcs, preferences, imports and other information you choose to save.
- Sharing information: the disclosure and date-precision choices you make and the redacted snapshot created for a public share link.
- Subscription information: product, entitlement, trial, renewal, cancellation and transaction status supplied by RevenueCat and Stripe. Timeliner does not receive or store your complete payment-card number.
- Technical information: browser/device information, security logs and information needed to operate and protect the service.
- Analytics: privacy-limited product events, page paths, campaign and referral parameters, and a pseudonymous account identifier for signed-in use across sessions and devices. Timeline text, imported content, email addresses, exact personal dates, public-share tokens, non-attribution query parameters and URL fragments are excluded from Timeliner analytics events.
- Support communications: information you send when asking for help.
3. Why we use it
- Provide accounts, timeline storage, sharing, imports, Review and subscription features.
- Remember your language and timeline presentation preferences.
- Process purchases, determine Pro access and prevent payment or entitlement fraud.
- Secure, maintain, troubleshoot and improve Timeliner.
- Respond to support, privacy and legal requests.
- Comply with accounting, tax, consumer-protection and other legal obligations.
Depending on where you live, our legal bases may include performance of our contract with you, legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, consent where required, and compliance with legal obligations.
4. Public sharing
Sharing is optional. Before creating a public link, Timeliner asks you to preview the snapshot and choose what it contains, including whether titles, descriptions, exact dates or approximate dates are disclosed.
Anyone who obtains an active share link may view its disclosed contents without signing in. Share links are designed to be difficult to guess, but they should still be treated as shareable information. You can revoke a link; revocation prevents future access through that link.
5. Service providers
We use service providers only as needed to operate Timeliner. They include:
- Stripe, as payment gateway and payment processor.
- RevenueCat, for subscription checkout, lifecycle management and entitlement status.
- Google Analytics 4, for privacy-limited website and product analytics. Google advertising signals and advertising-personalization signals are disabled in Timeliner’s configuration.
- Hosting, database, authentication and email infrastructure, including Timeliner’s Supabase-based services.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy obligations. We may also disclose information when legally required, to protect users or the service, or as part of a lawful business reorganization.
6. Cookies and local storage
Timeliner uses browser storage and similar technologies for authentication, security, language, onboarding and timeline presentation preferences. Google Analytics may use cookies or device identifiers where permitted. You can restrict cookies through your browser; blocking essential storage may prevent sign-in or saved preferences from working.
7. Retention
Account and timeline information is retained while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. When you request account deletion, we delete your account and its associated personal data, including your public snapshots, except for records that must be retained for legal, tax, payment, security, fraud-prevention or dispute purposes. Limited backup copies may remain until their retention period ends. Our response identifies any retained data, the reason and the applicable retention period.
Support requests and their contact details are retained only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and prevent abuse, after which they are deleted or anonymized. Public snapshots remain available until revoked or otherwise removed. Transaction and entitlement records may be retained longer where accounting, fraud-prevention or legal obligations require it.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted transport, authentication controls, database access controls and privacy-reducing analytics practices. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Use a unique password and notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
9. Your choices and rights
To delete your Timeliner account and associated personal data, use our account deletion request page. You do not need to sign in or reinstall the app. The page explains ownership verification, the data covered and subscription considerations.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, object to or delete personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Email support@timelinerapp.com from the address associated with your account. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
10. International processing
Some service providers may process information outside Switzerland or your home country. Where required, we rely on recognized transfer safeguards or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
11. Children
Timeliner is not directed to children under 16. If local law permits a lower digital-consent age, a parent or legal guardian must provide any required authorization.
12. Changes and contact
We may update this notice as Timeliner changes. Material changes will be communicated through the service or another appropriate channel. Questions can be sent to support@timelinerapp.com.
